Vivian Ma

“I will use the scholarship to support my academic journey at UCLA, helping to ease financial stress while allowing me to dedicate more time to exploring and gaining experience in commercial real estate.

Entering college and joining my university’s real estate club introduced me to the dynamic world of commercial real estate. I was inspired to pursue a career in this field by the blend of strategic thinking, relationship-building, and the opportunity to make a real impact.”

“I plan to use this scholarship to purchase study materials for my courses and to pay for my upcoming EIT exam in May. It will also allow me to reduce my work hours so I can focus more on improving my GPA this semester.

I chose to pursue civil engineering because I’ve always been fascinated by how things are built. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been curious about how bridges and buildings come to life. My dream is to become an engineer who can design my own home and create bridges and infrastructure that help people and improve lives.”

“I will use this scholarship to pursue the CCIM Designation courses and embark on a new exciting chapter!
Becoming a commercial real estate agent allows me to combine my passion for serving others with the goal of maximizing wealth for my family and those I work with. I believe real estate offers significant opportunities for financial growth, and I want to help others make informed decisions that will secure their wealth. By empowering others to build valuable assets, I can make a difference and create lasting change for my family and others.”

“I would like to use the scholarship to apply towards my FMP program with IFMA.

Growing up, I always had a "figure it out" mentality and a service before self mindset. Facilities Management is where I found I can actively problem solve as complex problems arise on a day to day basis. I am also given the ability to provide service to customers/clients with excellence. I hope to continue to share the knowledge I have obtained and continue to gain to the younger Asian-American community. ‘Each one, teach one.’”

I would like to use the money that I will receive from the scholarship to further my higher education and pay for expenses that allow me to pursue my studies without any concern for further costs.

Ever since I was little, I always took inspiration in pursuing architecture from my cousins and uncle who are architects. I knew that to pursue this career, I needed to have help from scholarships as I come from a low-income household. Finding out about AAPI-CPA has been a blessing as not only does it help me pursue my higher education, it's an organization that knows the hardships of going into the major that I am pursuing.”

“I will use the money to help pay for my housing at Boston University, where I will be staying in the dorms. Knowing Boston is an expensive city, it is crucial for me to take every opportunity financially. I seek to return back to San Francisco after college to bring a positive change into the city.

My inspiration began during my daily carpool rides to Stuart Hall High School. As I pass through San Francisco each morning, I see a skyline that represents growth and opportunity, but I also witness the stark contrast of the Tenderloin, marked by homelessness and economic decay. The disparity between progress and poverty deeply frustrates me. This motivated me to explore real estate development. I want to be part of shaping communities like San Francisco, where thoughtful development can uplift lives and restore dignity.”

Christina Tran-Wu

“I plan to invest in my learning journey by pursuing a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) certification through IFMA. This will help deepen my technical skills and open the door to exciting new opportunities as I take the next big step in my Facilities and Workplace Services career.

I’ve always been someone who genuinely cares about people and their experiences, which naturally led me to roles focused on employee experience and well-being. It was during this time that mentors and managers from past companies saw something in me and opened doors for me to grow within the industry.”

Brian To

“I plan on using the money to acquire a designation (MAI) in my current career (appraisal). The MAI designation is similar to a badge of honor that signifies a high level of expertise and credibility in real estate valuation.

I took a chance and tried something (commercial real estate appraising) that I was unfamiliar with. It turns out that my current field (appraisal) really fits with my analytical mindset.”
